Congratulations are in order! The Mubare mountain gorilla family joyfully welcomed a brand new arrival just two weeks ago. The baby gorilla was born in Uganda’s Bwindi Impenetrable Forest to Businza, the oldest female member of the family.
“With just two populations of mountain gorillas left in the world, numbering about 1000 in total, the species is critically endangered,” says Mbwebwe Peter, the Uganda Wildlife Authority Tourism Warden in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park.
“Any addition is clearly great cause for celebration.”
Both mum and bub are apparently doing really well. Animal lovers and families planning a Ugandan gorilla trek will be delighted by the news. An encounter with the primates is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
