“Jumanji!” someone yells. I let go and jump. Wind in my hair, gaining speed, I manage to crane my neck back for one last brief glimpse of the most beautiful view in Sydney.
The slender curve of Sydney Harbour Bridge flashes between the trees as the landing platform gets rapidly closer. An emu looks up, startled, from its position beneath my zipline.
For these school holidays only, Taronga Zoo’s awesome Wild Ropes course has been transformed into the Jumanji Jungle. In time for the DVD release of the adventure film remake starring Dwayne Johnson and Jack Black, this perfect holiday outing combines action, adrenaline, wildlife and harbour views.
In helmet and harness, the fearless can follow a series of high ropes courses through the trees. The obstacles vary in difficulty depending on which route you choose. There are even two fun-sized courses especially for 3 to 8 year olds.
Until April 29th, as part of the special Jumanji-themed offer, you also have the chance to win special prizes thanks to Universal Sony Pictures Home Entertainment.
Post a picture of your high-flying adventure to Instagram or Twitter with the tags #JumanjiAU and @viewinglounge to go in the running to win a behind-the-scenes Zoo experience or a copy of Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle on DVD.
Wild Ropes is open every day except Christmas Day, with the first climbing session opening at 9.30am.
The courses will take about 90 minutes and can operate in all conditions except if there is heavy wind or lightning. Children over 3 can get 1-hour access to the Children’s Courses for $20. Pay $71 for adults or $47 for 8-17 year olds to complete two of the adventure courses and get same-day Zoo access.
