Sir Richard Branson has told Virgin Airlines staff he wants the company to operate non-stop flights between London and Perth “as soon as possible”.
According to the Scotland Herald, the service would likely be a codeshare with Virgin Australia and Delta Airlines.
Branson first proposed the route in 2003. However, the plans were put on hold due to rising fuel prices.
Qantas first started flying London to Perth in 2017. The route is now one of their highest rated journeys.
Should Virgin enter the market, passengers will benefit. Increased competition will hopefully bring prices down.
