Shake up your beach day with Sculpture by the Sea

Sydney has been heating up. Emerge from your winter hibernation and head outdoors to make the most of the warm weather. At Bondi, they’re celebrating the arrival of summer with the 23rd annual Sculpture by the Sea exhibition. Join hundreds of other families to see Sydney’s most famous beach covered in art.

Sculpture by the Sea is totally free and runs from 24th October to 10th November this year. It is the world’s largest free public sculpture exhibition, with more than 100 sculptures spread along the Bondi to Tamarama Coastal Walk. There are shorter loops around Marks Park for little legs, strollers or those who prefer to avoid stairs and longer distances.

If you book in advance, you can also enjoy a free Tactile Tour as part of the event’s Access and Inclusion program. Audio descriptions are available for art-lovers with vision impairments.

We recommend arriving as soon as you can in the morning, ideally on a week day. Sculptures by the Sea is expecting 500,000 visitors this year, so crowds are guaranteed!

Nowhere near Sydney? Feeling left out? Never fear! The raging success of the Sydney Sculptures by the Sea spread to Western Australian shores in 2005. They haven’t looked back since. From 6th to 23rd March 2020, Cottesloe Beach in Perth will welcome 70 sculptures to the sand. You can access the works via ramps or stairs along Marine Parade.
