Search for brightly-coloured eggs amongst the beautifully landscaped Hunter Valley Gardens, with a special appearance form the Easter Bunny himself.

Lightning Ridge Easter Festival
19-21 April in Lightning Ridge
The Easter Bunny hits the Outback with rodeos, horse races, carnival rides, markets and a float parade.

Hunter Valley Steamfest
13-14 April in Maitland
Mini rev heads and train lovers won’t want to miss the Hunter Valley’s annual Steamfest. Get involved in the Great Train Race or ride a traditional steam train. Check out the antique machinery or head over to Maitland Park to see a 400-strong collection of classic cars. You’ll also catch live music, market stalls and gourmet food trucks.

Sculpture at Scenic World
12 April-12 May at Scenic World in the Blue Mountains
In the heart of the Blue Mountains, see the ancient rainforest transformed into outdoor gallery. Wander along the boardwalk and discover 25 epic art installations created by local artists.

Get crafty with the kids in this investigative art playgroup. Workshops run 10-11am and are suitable for kids aged 2-5 years.
18 & 23 April – Junior Clay School Holiday School
Squash, shape, roll and break clay to create your own masterpiece. Aimed at 6-9 year olds, running between 11:30am-3:30pm.
23 April – Drawing on a Younger Mind
Older kids get to put their modern art minds to the test, creating their own magnificent take-home projects. Suitable for kids over 10 years, running 11:30am-3:30pm.
23-24 April – Dance Beats Holiday School
Pop, lock, twist, twirl and shake it at the first ever school holiday dance workshop at Casula Powerhouse. Running from 12-4pm both days, calling dancers aged 10-12 years old.
24 April – Drama Camp
Aspiring actors and actresses can get together to put on a spectacular show for friends and family. Suitable for drama fans aged 10-12. Workshop runs 11:30am-3:30pm

Blue Mountains Adventures with YHA
All school holidays at YHA Katoomba

Canowindra International Balloon Challenge
19-18 April in Canowindra, Regional NSW
The historic township of Canowindra in outback NSW will host their annual hot air ballooning festival this April, where hundreds of balloons take to the skies. Don’t miss Balloon Glow, a night time spectacular with markets, food stalls and entertainment.

DinoSnore – Sleepover at the Australian Museum
12 April 6pm-8am at the Australian Museum in Sydney
Live your own Night at the Museum adventure, sleeping at the foot of a fierce Stegosaurus or ferocious T-rex. The evening includes a buffet dinner, breakfast at the rooftop cafe, Oz Wildlife show, torchlight-tour of the museum, movie screening and a goody bag to take home. The Peppa Pig action continues at WILD LIFE Sydney. Meet all kinds of fuzzy, feathered and furry animals as you search for Peppa’s friends. Open from 10am daily, last entry at 4:30pm.

Lights, camera, Bollywood!
From 4 April at Madame Tussauds Darling Harbour, Sydney
An all-new permanent exhibition is opening at Madame Tussauds. Bollywood is coming to Darling Harbour! Step onto the set of a Bollywood production and take a starring role in full-costume, equipped with stellar dance routine. This experience is included int he cost of admission. Open daily from 10am-6pm.

Endless Lights
From 1 March at Sydney Tower Eye
Endless Lights is a new light installation, featuring incredible illusions using mirrors, lights and lasers. The highlight: a perspex floor that looks as if you’re floating above and endless floor. More photo opportunities will be found on the Observation Deck, 250-metres above the streets of Sydney. Open daily from 9am-9pm.

Fairy Magic at Illawarra Fly
7-21 April at Illawarra Fly Treetop Adventures
A sprinkling of fairy dust has landed at Illawarra Fly Treetop Adventures. Set off on a. trail to discover the homes of enchanted creatures and discover the Treetop Walk high above the forest floor. Open daily from 9am-5pm.

Queensland

Kuranda’s Easter in the Park
20 April in Kuranda, Tropical North Queensland
The Easter Bunny has been busy hiding chocolate in Kuranda, and it’s your job to find it. Join the Easter egg hunt at Kuranda Heritage Markets, meet the Easter Bunny in Centenary Park and satisfy your sweet tooth with a demonstration at the Kuranda Candy Kitchen.

Junior Eco Rangers Holiday Program
5-27 April at Kingfisher Bay Resort on Fraser Island

13-22 April at Discovery Parks Byron Bay

5-14 April in Alice Springs
Parrtjima is a free festival taking place across two locations; Alice Springs Desert Park and Todd Mall in the CBD. Created in partnership with local First Nations artists and art centres, this one-of-a-kind event features light installations with art, music, talks and ideas that shine a light on Central Australia.

Bilby Buddies Weekend
20-21 April at Alice Springs Desert Park
Head to the base of the West MacDonnell Ranges to meet the Easter Bilby and his desert friends. Kids can get involved in the arts, crafts, storytelling and easter egg hunt activities.

Desert Explorers
16-17 April at Alice Springs Desert Park
Be a mini-zookeeper for the day, learning how to care for and feed the animals that call the desert home.

Croc Encounters at Crocosaurus Cove
Open all school holidays in Darwin
Pay a visit to the world’s largest display of reptiles. Head to a croc-feeding, swim with baby crocs and get up close with snakes, lizards and turtles. Dare devils can even spend 15 minutes in the cage of death, underwater with one of the big saltwater crocs.

As if you need any more reason to visit a chocolate factory. On the first Sunday of the school holidays, kids can have a cuddle with some of the fluffy and feathered members of the Swan Valley Animal Farm. Get ready for a cuteness overload between 10am-1pm. Plus, don’t forget to stock up on Easter chocolates from the store.

Victoria

School holidays: 6-22 April

Nature Treasure Hunts
8-18 April at National Parks throughout Victoria
Calling all Junior Rangers. Parks Victoria is hosting more than 150 free events for kids these school holidays. Children aged 6-12 can take on an epic Nature Treasure Hunt, exploring national parks all over Victoria. The Junior Ranger program is totally free but bookings are recommended.

Holiday fun at Holiday Inn on Flinders
This inner city hotel is shaking things up these school holidays. Adults can enjoy the  newly refurbished rooms while kids take on the glamp-in experience. A Day on the Hill
21 April at Flagstaff Hill maritime Village
Treat yourself to warm hot cross buns, yummy Easter eggs and plenty of local food and wine at the Easter Sunday event in Warrnambool. Visit the animal farm, have your face painted and join the hunt for more than 10,000 chocolate eggs hidden around the grounds.

LEGOLAND Discovery Centre

The LEGOLAND Discovery Centre is celebrating the release of The LEGO Movie 2 with loads of fun activities for kids over the school holidays. Make your own Stop Motion video, build a vehicle to escape the aliens, embark on a scavenger hunt and bring the recent movie to life with LEGO figurines and sets. 

Magic in the Treetops
6-28 April at Otway Fly Treetop Adventures, Weeaproniah
Discover ten enchanting fairy houses scattered amongst the forest at Otway Fly Treetop Adventures. Handcrafted by the volunteers at Men’s Shed Colac, the houses create a magical trail through the wilderness. Open from9am-5pm daily. 

Tasmania

Easter Comes to Hillwood Berries
22 April in Hillwood
The Easter Bunny is making a guest appearance at Hillwood Berries these Easter holidays. Send the kids off on a chocolate egg hunt, have their faces painted, get creative at the arts and crafts station and dress up in your best Easter outfit for the chance to win a prize.

Kids in the Park
21 April at Burnie Park
This Easter Sunday is bound to be the best one yet for families heading to Burnie Park. Fill your basket with treats from the egg hunt and meet the Easter Bunny. Tuck into a jam tart at the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party. Kids can come dressed in their favourite fairy outfit and join in on the fairy dance lessons and make a wand with the Fairy Queen. This free event promises fun for the whole family.

Ghost Rock Easter egg Hunt & Family Picnic
20 April at Ghost Rock Cellar Door in Northdown
Head along the the annual Easter Saturday event at Ghost Rock. Pack a picnic, sample quality wines at the cellar door and, of course, join in on a bunch of Easter activities. Enjoy the Easter egg hunt, jumping castles, balloon artists and live entertainment.

International Mural Fest
21-27 April in Mural Park, Sheffield
Watch the public ‘paint-off’ go down in the Town of Murals. International Mural fest kicks off in Sheffield every year on Easter Sunday. The local artists will inspire you with their creativity and downright endurance, often battling unpredictable weather and time constraints. While you’re there, take a ride on the Redwater Creek Railway steam train.

The Great Easter Egg Hunt
21 April at the Tailrace Centre, Riverside, Launceston
Swing by Kids Paradise on Easter Sunday for an epic Easter egg hunt and a chance to meet the easter Bunny. Fill your basket with goodies, try your skills at lawn bowls, croquet, bean bag toss and plenty of other Easter-themed activities.
