Want to maximise your time travelling and minimise your annual leave? 2019 is the year for you. Thanks to the schedule of 2019 public holidays, it is possible to have a mega-break without using too much annual leave.
In 2019, it is possible to take 10 days of holidays for just THREE days of annual leave.
Here’s how it works.
In 2019, Good Friday falls on April 19, Easter Monday is 22 April and Anzac Day is Thursday, April 25.
If you fly out on Thursday 18 April (after work) the first day of annual leave you will need to take is Tuesday 23 April. Take Wednesday 24 April and Friday 26 April as annual leave. And get back to the office on Monday 29 April.
Thursday 18 April (fly to your destination after work)
Friday 19 April (Good Friday)
Saturday 20 April
Sunday 21 April
Monday 22 April (Easter Monday)
Tuesday 23 April (annual leave, unless you live in Tas)
Wednesday 24 April (annual leave)
Thursday 25 April (Anzac Day)
Friday 26 April (annual leave)
Saturday 27 April
Sunday 28 April
Monday 29 April (back to work)
If you’re lucky enough to live in Tasmania, you also get Easter Tuesday as a public holiday. So Tasmanians only need to take 2 days of annual leave for 10 whole days of holiday.
Our hot tip is to book your leave in NOW. As soon as your colleagues notice the 2019 public holidays, they will all want time off next year. Plus you may need to book well in advance to lock in the best rates.
